Biography

Rose Ellen, known as Eileen, was the daughter of Ellen and Bernard Patrick McMahon.

Eileen was educated at Columkill Convent, Hokitika. Her father was employed as a School Teacher at Reefton.

Eileen married William Monteith on 9 July 1927 becoming his 3rd wife. No children were born in their marriage.

William worked as a Brewer in Reefton.

Eileen Monteith died in 1934. Her age was assessed as 38 but she would have been 40 years old at the time of her death. She was buried at Bromley Cemetery, Christchurch.

Bernard Patrick McMahon was also was a mining agent, founder of the Pactolus Quartz Mining Co and manager of the Buller Junction Dredge Company as well as sometime hotelkeeper.
