Biography

Leota was born in 1913. Obituary-Mrs. Leota E. Probasco died February 27, 1986 at Asbury Hospital in Salina at the age of 72. she had been in Salina at the nursing home for several months for dialysis treatments and had suffered a fall there which had caused an injuryy to her head which had necessitated surgery over a week prior to her death and had appeared to be improving. She was born November 5, 1913, in Stockton (KS) to Virgil and Grace (Baker) McMahan. She married Perry Probasco in Logan (KS) on November 25, 1950 and they made their home on a farm west of Stockton. She was a member of the Stockton United Methodist Church and the Sunflower Club. She had spent much of her life in service to others, particularly to those who were ill or had suffered misfortune. She was and untiring worker in her church and will probably be remembered longest for her work with the Thrift Shop which she was instrumental in starting. She gave long hours to it even after she became ill. Surviving are her husband, Perry, daughter-in-law, Patricia, grandson, Justin, Step-mother, Eva McMahan of Midland, Michigan; brother, Raymond of Lima, Ohio; Keith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Eloise Tvedte of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Oliver of Golden, Colo; half-brother, Arlie of Midland, Michigan; and a half-sister, Exelee Krekler of Hermosillo, Mexico. Preceding her in death, her son, Philip; mother, Grace (Baker) McMahan; father, Virgil McMahan; half-brother, Jim McMahan. Funeral services were monday afternoon at the Stockton Methodist Church . Interment in Stockton Cemetery.
