Biography
James, a carter, married Brigid Hogan, a dress maker in 1891. James was 30 and Brigid was 20.
In the 1901 Census, James was Head of family at 64 High Road, Limerick. He was a van driver. He mustn’t have aged in ten years as he gave his age as still 30..
Also present in the house were his wife Bridget, and their six sons, Christopher, James, Raphael, Alphonsus, Jeremiah and Vincent. Also at same address on census night was his aunt Bridget McNamara (his mother’s sister), age 92, and Michael Rodgers, 69, a lodger.
In the 1911 census, James is Head of family at 15 Cash's Lane, and is a hackney driver. His age is given as 45 but this should be 50 as he was born in 1861.
Also at home on census night are his wife Bridget and sons James, Alphonsus, and Jeremiah. their ages are recorded as 40, 17, 14 and 12.
