Biography

Sarah was born in 1862 in Gransha, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the daughter of Joseph McMaster and Ann Jane Long. She was baptised on 15-Sep-1862 in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church.[1]

Sarah was a witness at the wedding of her brother Joseph in 1884.

On May 14th, 1885 Sarah married Arthur Arthurs in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Islandmagee. Arthur was recorded as full age, a Bachelor and a Mariner residing in Mullaghboy Islandmagee. Sarah was recorded as full age, and a Spinster residing in Gransha, Islandmagee. The witnesses were Samuel Arthurs and Mary Wilson.[2]

Sadly, Sarah passed away on May 23rd, 1890 (age 27). She was recorded as Married, and wife of a Master Mariner. The official cause was Heart Disease and Cerebral Embolism. It was registered by her sister Agnes McMaster, of Gransha Islandmagee who was present at the time.[3] She is interred in St. John's Church of Ireland Graveyard, in Islandmagee.[4]

    In loving memory of Sarah B. McMASTER, the beloved wife of A.M. Arthurs, died 23rd May 1890 aged 27 years. Also his son Robert Thomas who died 10th March 1903 aged 5 months. Also his daughter Sarah who died 11th May 1906 aged 18 years. The above named A. M. Arthurs died 3rd July 1934 aged 72 years. Also his dear wife Elizabeth who died 27th Nov. 1956 aged 79 years. Also his son Arthur Magowan who died 28th Nov. 1957 aged 57 years.
