Biography

Catherine McMaster was born in 1869 in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia). She was the third daughter of John McMaster and Catherine McInnes.

Catherine married John Forsyth, who would later become a Major General, on 10th November 1897 in a Brisbane Wesleyan Methodist church. [1] After having five children, they moved south to Hawthorn, Victoria; in 1907-08:

  1. Kathleen (1898-1973); remained single
  2. John Hood (1900-38)
  3. Doreen Mabel (1903-86); remained single
  4. Evelyn Margaret (1905-79); remained single
  5. Stanley William Roulston (1907-08); infant mortality

Having been widowed for 27 years, Catherine passed away aged 87 years in 1956 in Hawthorn. [2] She was survived by her three spinster daughters.
