I’m currently doing the New Zealand Project Check Ins. Once you have contacted me, I will post the message where you can record your member interests. I’m loving making contact with the members of this project.

I have created a lot of New Zealand profiles for people who are not directly my family. If they are YOUR family, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll add further information, or if you are a WikiTree member, make you the profile manager.

If you need help with finding free, online, New Zealand sources for ancestors, please ask and I’ll try to help.

I have recently retired from full-time secondary school English teaching in New Zealand and would like to get the myriad of genealogical information I have in some sort of sensible order. For me, genealogy is more than a list of people and dates; it's a study of the stories of those who created us. Many other websites have errors in my family information and I would like WikiTree to be the definitive version, with well-researched and sourced stories.

My major interest is early New Zealand history (1842-1920), especially the early European settlers of what became the Nelson Province. I'm also fascinated by what I can find out about women's history. Women are often unrecognised heroes, and finding and sharing their stories is a privilege.

I live in New Zealand and I am very interested in our early European settler past.
For the Source-a-thon
My great great grandfather, Charles Woolcock, was from Cornwall and in spite being a member of the House of Representatives, is a bit of a black sheep.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Fiona by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Fiona:

Have you taken a DNA test? If so, login to add it. If not, see our friends at Ancestry DNA.

I don't understand what the "NZ Project" is.

I am adding my NZ tree. I assumed the "Project" would have divisions for adding which ships families arrived on, and who was killed in the 2 wars. I guess I misunderstood, so remove me please.

Yes hello thanks for checking in on me

I do plan on being involved in the NZ project. I haven't had the most time due to university but I will be working on my profiles soon.

I was under the impression I had already "checked in" when I posted to the G2G thread that I had updated the Project Members page.

I simply document New Zealanders on Wikitree and will likely continue to do so.

I am not particularly aware of the specific New Zealand Project.
