Biography

Margaret McMillan was believed to have been born about October 4, 1816 in North Carolina.

She married Daniel Jolly in Neshoba County, Mississippi.

The children of Margaret and Daniel were:

• Robert E Alexander (b. abt. 1845, Mississippi)
• Francis Alexander (b. abt. 1847, Mississippi)
• Martha K Alexander (b. abt. 1848, Mississippi)
• Joseph G Alexander (b. abt. 1850, Mississippi)
• William Jolly (b. abt. 1857, Mississippi)
• Minnie Jolly (b. abt. 1862, Mississippi)

The 1850 U.S. Census lists Margaret at the age of 34 with Daniel at 44 and eight children, four of which were from Daniel's first marriage to Nancy McPhail, living in Jasper County, Mississippi. Also living with them was Daniel's 78 year old father, John Jolly.^[1]

In the 1870 Census, Margaret is shown as 45 years old with two children, William and Minnie, living on the family farm in Precinct 4 of Hardin County, Texas.^[2]

By the 1880 U.S. Census, Margaret is listed at the age of 55 living in the household of her youngest son Willie with Willie, his wife Cora, and two sons, Alonzo and Albert ages 3 and 2, in Brazos County, Texas.^[3]

Margaret (McMillan) Jolly is thought to have died March 28, 1881 in Brazos County, Texas.
