Biography

Marjory was born in Lamlash, Buteshire , Isle of Arran, Scotland, to Donald McMillan & Mary nee Nicol/McNical.

Came to Australia, September, 1858 on the ship " Morning Light".

According to Mrs Byrne of Lake Marmal, she wasn't very fluent in English, Gaelic being the native tongue.

Eileen (Nolen) Orelli remembers her as being more liberal than her husband John, in matters relating to family & thought that her children were entitled to have a few luxuries or habits as they worked hard, eg, John senior was berating sons on spending money on tobacco,Marjory said," they were entitled to some tobacco".

Marjory's marriage to John (Nolan) Nolen was registered in 31 August 1861 in St. Alipius Catholic Church, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.^[2]

Marjory died on 5 May 1906 in Wandin, Victoria, Australia and their estate passed probate on 28 May 1909.^[3]
