Catherine was born Aug 5 1813 - Parish of S. Knapdale, Argyll, Scotland. Her parents were Alexander McMillan, Margaret Campbell.

She married 1st John McLachline / McLachlan / McLachlin 3 Feb 1838 in South Knapdale, Argyll, Scotland.^[1] They had two children:

1. Janet, b 1839,^[2]
2. Colin, b 1843,^[3] d 1920

In the 1841 census Catherine (age 25) was in Ballimore, South Knapdale, Argyll.^[4]

She married 2nd, after John's death, Donald McArthur 15 Apr 1848 in South Knapdale, Argyll, Scotland.^[5] They had three children:

1. Margaret, b 1851/1852,^[6] d 1908
2. Donald, b 1852,^[7] d 1895
3. James, b 1855 in South Australia, d 1916

In the 1851 census Catherine (age 35) was the 2nd wife of Donald Mc Arthur in Kilmory, South Knapdale, Argyll.^[8]

Catherine, age 36, went with Donald, age 44, and children from both of their marriages, to South Australia on the Macedon, departing 14 Sep 1853 from Plymouth, arriving in Adelaide, South Australia.^[9]

Her husband Donald died 1892.

She died 14 Jun 1896, age 82, in Nr Hog Bay, South Australia. The registration states her husband was Donald McArthur. ^[10]

She was buried with Donald in Penneshaw Cemetery, Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island Council, South Australia, Australia.^[11]
