Email from Duncan's brother's (James) descendant: "This is my McMillan family link (work in progress): https://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000065137861892

The information I have goes back to Archibald McMillan who was Duncan’s father and Alexander McMillan (Isle of Islay, Scotland) who was Archibald’s father.

Alexander McMillan, his wife Anne Carmichael and their 10 children left Islay in the early 1800’s to settle in Richmond County, North Carolina. Not sure how long they stayed there (Alexander shows in a Richmond County census with children) but Alexander died in North Caroline and his wife and children eventually immigrated to Ontario, settling in what was called Thorah.

Archibald and his wife Catherine, had 7 children in Thorah, Ontario. Your descendant, Duncan McMillan, moved from Thorah, Ontario to Margaret, Manitoba in the late 1800s - I have him showing on a Manitoba census in 1891.

My second great grandfather, James (Jas) McMillan (Duncan’s younger brother) followed him several years later with his wife Jeanie Robertson (and several children, one who was my great grandmother) and built a farmhouse just a couple of miles up the road heading towards Minto, Manitoba. Duncan and James’s descendants still farm in the same region to this day.

Also, I noticed what I believe be one of your relatives, Garth Rutherford, had initiated a tree re: Duncan McMillan on Geni.com related to Duncan McMillan. You can view the tree here:
