Notices

Guyra Argus (NSW : 1902 - 1954), Thursday 11 September 1913, page 3. [1] Obituary. Quite a gloom was cast over the community last evening when the sad intelligence was received that Mrs. Moore, wife of Mr. Giles Moore, of "Valley Dale," had passed away. The deceased lady had been in indifferent health for some considerable time, but until a week ago her condition was not such as to lead to the belief that her end was so rapidly approaching. On Friday last she visited Glen Innes. On Saturday the malady from which she was known to be suffering, unfortunately, took a bad form, and she was obliged to go to bed. Her illness gradually in-creased in intensity, and on Monday last she lapsed into a state of unconsciousness, from which she never rallied, the end occurring at half-past seven last night, in the presence of her family, close relatives, and a number of intimate friends. The late Mrs. Moore was comparatively a young woman, having attained her 49th birthday only the day before her demise. She was the third daughter of the late Mrs. McMullin, of Wollombi, whose death took place on the 23rd of last month. Of the family left to mourn her loss are two sons — Ernest (Bondi) and Richard (Guyra), and two daughters — Mrs. Jas. Gilmour and Miss Phoebe (Guyra). To the grief-stricken husband and family we join with their many friends in offering our deepest sympathy in their sorrowful bereavement. Deceased was sister of Messrs. James McMullin (Maitland), George (Ash-ford), John and William (Laguna), and Joseph (Walcha Road), and Mrs. Wells (Ashford), Mrs. E.J. Stevenson (Guyra), and Mrs. Shaddock (Singleton). "She was ---- But words are wanting to express what. Think what a wife and mother should be, And she was that." The remains were interred in the Ollera Cemetery this afternoon, the funeral, which was very largely attended, leaving her late residence at 10 a.m. The graveside rites were performed by Revs. A. W. Coates and G. A. Sanders, Th.L., many an eye being dimmed during the solemn and impressive ceremony. At the conclusion of the service, Rev. A. W. Coates spoke very feelingly of the irreparable loss the family, relatives, the Church, and the community had sustained by the sudden Home Call of deceased, He referred to the strenuous, self-sacrificing life she had lived, and bade those who mourned her loss to look to the God of all comfort and trust in and serve Him as she had done. A service was also conducted in St. James's Church Guyra, en route to Ollera Cemetery. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. C. D. Hutton, under taker, Guyra.
