Biography

James Best McMurray was born 23rd October, 1872, Poyntzpass, Newry, County Armagh, the son of John McMurray and Mary Best.

He married Margaret Moody.

The 1911 census shows James living Cambrai street, Shankill, County Antrim, Ireland, where he is a 39-year-old carpenter. Whilst his family are Methodists, his wife's brother, George Moody, a single, 39-year-old Boot Maker, is Church of ireland.
