Sources

  • As per 2nd Ballyeaston Presbyterian church baptismal register, Jane Bole was the wife of James McMurray. The family lived in the Grange of Ballywalter townland, south of the village of Doagh.

A number of children were baptised in 2nd Ballyeaston church during the period from 1828 to 1844. Whether James's wife, Jane's actual surname was Bale/Bole/Boal/Bell is hard to distinguish from the register, however Bole appears to be the most likely. There is no trace of their marriage in the Ballyeaston register.

As per Groni record, death of James McMurray, married, age 67 at Antrim workhouse on 9th February 1866. Occupation stated as labourer, debility one year certified. Death registered by John Gardner, master of Antrim Union workhouse on 3rd March 1866.

I have examined a number of records for deaths of James McMurrays and the only record which would appear to fit would be this record from Antrim workhouse in 1866. Of course I cannot discount the fact that James may have died prior to official registration of deaths beginning in 1864. If anyone should be aware if records exist for Antrim workhouse covering the period of James death, please contact me.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
