He was born 16 Sep 1877[1] to Francis and Catherine McNabb, settlers from Ireland who owned a farm at West Eyreton.
In August 1890 at Oxford, Francis and his brother William were caught breaking windows. [2]
On 18 Jan 1911 at the Catholic Cathedral, Christchurch, he married Gertrude Annie Slade, daughter of Lewis Slade and Harriet Wallis. [3] [4] They had three children, two surviving infancy.
At the time, he was a groundsman living in Richmond, Christchurch. According to electoral rolls, he moved to in Kaiapoi for a period including 1928-1938 before moving back to Christchurch.
From 1920 to 1938 at least, he was the greenkeeper for St Albans Bowling Club.[5].
In January 1938, he and his brother Edward George attended a farewell party at St Patrick's Church, Akaroa.[6]
On Feb 12 1945 he played a bowls tournament in Greymouth.[7].
He passed away on 24 Jan 1950 aged 72 at his residence, 33 Speight St, St. Albans, Christchurch, [8] [9] and was buried two days later at Linwood Cemetery, Block 44 Plot 23[10].
