Biography

John was born about 1816 in Kildalton, Islay. The OPR for Islay at the time were poorly kept and only the father's name appears for most of the births. He passed away in 1889. My sources are mainly secondary. He was my 2x great grandfather. I have located him with his family in the 1871 and 1881 Census of Canada. He is buried in the Knox Presbyterian Church cemetery, 9th line, Oro-Medonte Township, Simcoe County, Ontario. His parents, several siblings and other family are buried in this cemetery. My grandfather wrote down the names of the family who emigrated but sourcing the birth/marriage records may be impossible. I continue to look.
