He worked in the sawmill and was interested in Rugby League. When Alex retired, they lived at Caloundra, Queensland, Australia. [3]

He passed away on 22 June 1994 at Caloundra, Queensland, Australia.

He was buried at the Caloundra Cemetery, Caloundra, Queensland, Australia. [4]
