Biography

James was born in 1843. He is the son of John McNaughton and Clarisa Unknown.

Service from The Story of a Thousand

He enlisted in Company E of the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 12, 1862 at age 20 as Private. During the course of his service he was promoted to Corporal of Company E on April 10, 1863 and then to Sergeant on September 1, 1864. He was mustered out at the close of the war. [1]

James A. McNaughton was born in Montville, Ohio, Sept. 16, 1842. Enlisted as a private in Co. E, rose to the grade of Sergeant; was mustered out with the regiment, and died at Chardon, Ohio, Sept. 4, 1894. [2]
