Rebecca was born in Derry, in Ireland. Her birth details have not been located and her birth year is given on her assisted immigration documents.
Rebecca married Thomas Clarke, a farm labourer from the Tyrone-Derry border region. They were married before 1856 in Derry.
Shortly after their marriage, Thomas and Rebecca embarked on the Schomberg as assisted immigrants to Van Diemen's Land. The Schomberg was wrecked during the journey off Cape Otway. Thomas and Rebecca completed the journey in the 'City of Hobart', arriving on 5th January 1856.
Thomas and Rebecca's first child, John [1] [2] , was born at 8th June 1856 at Bushy Bottom (Later known as Lachlan).
Their second child, Rebecca, was born in October 1857 [3] , also at Bushy Bottom.
William Hugh Clarke was next, born in 1859 [4] , still at Bushy Bottom. Finally was Joseph in 1862 [5].
No more children have been located for this family.
Rebecca died in 1885 [6] in New Norfolk, and is buried in North Circle Cemetery [7].
