Biography

Daniel along with John McPherson of Sadsbury township in Chester county was named Executor to the estate of his father, Daniel McPherson, by his will recorded 6 Aug 1755.[1] As Executors, DANIEL and JOHN sold a lot in Wilmington Delaware on 17 Nov 1760 which was purchased by his father in 1744.[2]

Daniel's siblings released their rights as heirs to Daniel "McFarson" on a tract of land which is important to note as it offers details to confirm residence, and children. It should be noted the land record is transcribed rather than original, and the spelling of the last name is "McFarson." The transcribed documents shows:

  • ...we John McFarson, William McFarson and Stephen McFarson (three of the sons of Daniel McFarson deced. late of Salisbury Township in county of Lancaster Yeoman and sometimes resident in the Township of Kennet in the County of Chester) and Nathaniel Carter and Ann his wife (the only Daughter of the said Daniel McFarson)...in consideration...sum of five shillings unto us...have granted "remised" released, and confirmed...unto our said brother Daniel McFarson (in his actual possession and “seizin” now being) and to his heirs and assigns all and every of the part and parts, Estate and Estates, right title & interest whatsoever...all that Messuage Plantation and tract of land thereunto belonging (late belonging to our said Father in his life time and which he mortgaged in the General Loan Office in the Province of Pennsylvania to secure the payment of a certain sum of money) “situate” on Paquaa Creek in Salesbury Township...containing 250 acres...witnessed 6 August 1755...recorded 27 Feb 1769[3]

"Daniel McPharson" and Mary his wife of Salisbury township in county of Lancaster in Province of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, purchased 152 acres lying in the township of Marlborough, county of Chester on the 13th of December 1766.[4]

It should be noted that Berkley County, Virginia was created in 1772 from the northern third of Frederick County, Virginia. The family removed to the Hopewell monthly meeting in Frederick County, Virginia. In 1778, Daniel "M. Pherson" was one of the signatories promising £15 on a bond obliging themselves, their Heirs, Executors & Administrators to pay unto Mordecai Ellis, Able Walker, Edward Beeson, Lewis Neill, Robert Hains, Andrew MKay, or one of the in Pennsylvania currency the several sums of Money by us repectively subscribed, to be applied in such manner as the Meeting for Sufferings in Philadelphia with the consent of the said Members of this Meeting, may hereafter direct for the Benefit of the Indians, who were formerly the Native Owners of the Lands, on which we now live, or their descendants if to be found, and if not for the service, & benefit of other Indians.[5]

In 1785, Ruth McPherson, Daughter of Daniel McPherson of the county of Berkeley, married Aquila Janney, son of Jacob Janney of the County of Louden, on the 12th day of the 5th month, 1785 at Hopewell.[6]

Daniel died before 1790. The marriage of Daniel McPherson of the county of Fairfax and state of Virginia, son of Daniel McPherson deceased and Mary his wife, married Martha Beeson, daughter of Edward and Jean Beeson of the county of Berkley, on the 7th day of the 1st month, 1790 at Tuscaroah.[7]
