The following Obituary shown as an original image on the right.
MARGARET McPHERSON was born in Gifford County, North Carolina, April 20, 1806, married JAMES RONSELY in 1831 and moved to Morgan County, Indiana.
She moved to Iowa in 1848, united with the Friends Church at Richland in 1849 and has lived a devoted Christian life up to the time of her death.
She moved to Providence, Hardin County in 1851.
Six children were born to them; four of whom survive her – one boy and three girls. JAMES RONSELY died in 1859 and she married THOMAS BENBOW in December 1867.
Since Mr. Benbow’s death in 1878, she has lived with her children and In 1897 moved to Milwaukee to live with her daughter MARY.
She died February 3, 1900. The Funeral was held at Honey Creek, Monday.
We are researching the family of Duncan and Sarah McPherson of North Carolina, probably from 1790s to mid-1800. We believe they may have had nine children. We know about two sons, John Templeton McPherson, born c1813, and Randal McPherson, born c1815. They and their descendants are detailed in a 655-page book by Richard D. Prall, "The McPherson and Miller Families," 2001.
Now we have identified a daughter, Margaret McPherson, born 1806, who in Chatham County NC in 1832 married James Rawnsley ("Ronslew" in the marriage bond, "Ronsley" in Indiana census). Quaker records defined her parentage conclusively.
Next, we are wondering if two other McPherson marriages in Chatham County in 1832 (same year) may be another son and daughter of this same family: Delilah McPherson, who married Tobias Furgison (Ferguson and other spellings in Indiana records later); and Duncan McPherson, who married Polly Dark. We wonder if Polly's real name was Mary?--since Polly is an old fashioned nickname for Mary, and there is a Duncan McPherson with wife Mary in the 1850 Morgan County, IN census.
If we can establish the connection of these two McPhersons, we will have five siblings identified. That may leave four older children, who may have married before the family's move to Chatham County, apparently around 1829.
The family may previously have been in Moore County NC, where we believe all 9 children may have been born (this IS NOT proven), and where most courthouse records were destroyed in late 1800s, making research very difficult. The oldest four children, two boys and two girls, may have been married (or buried) there.
You can see that there is a tremendous possibility for research and discovery here! Many of you frustrated McPherson researchers may connect up with our family, if we can only find you--or you find us!--and explore these possibilities with every clue we have. Our reward? Maybe someone will have a lost McPherson Bible, with everything intact! :~)

I am replying to my own message once again to add the name of one more possible sibling in this McPherson Family.
She is SARAH McPHERSON (Jr), born about 1810-1811 in North Carolina, who married JAMES HUDSON (HUTSON) in 1847 in Indiana.
They had three known daughters
# ARMILDA BROWN
# DELILAH and
# NANCY WELLMAN
We are still looking for two more, one brother and one sister, probably the two oldest children of the family. Especially interested in the name WILLIAM for the brother, but can't find him!
