John McQuiston is the son of David & Jane (McDonald) McQuiston. Born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, his family migrated to Ohio County, West Virginia and westward to Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.
On November 17, 1836, John married Eliza Rodgers, daughter of Benjamin Rodgers and Elizabeth (McGee) Rodgers. In 1837, John and Eliza migrated with John's family and their own young family to Allen County, Indiana.
John was active in building the Huntertown Presbyterian Church in 1845. He was laid to rest in the churchyard there near his parents and other family members.
