William McRae was born in 1845 in Ontario, Canada. His parents were William McRae and Agnes Mcfarlane.

He lived in Sombra, Ontario with his wife and 5 children. ^[2]

In the 1911 census William was in Sombra, Ontario with his wife. He was employed as a blacksmith. ^[4]

William McRae died from carcinoma on December 02, 1914 in Wilkesport, St. Clair, Lambton, Ontario, Canada at the age of 69 years and 8 months. He was laid to rest at Mooretown Cemetery. ^{[5] [6]}
