Herald & Review 1/30/2008 DECATUR - Iona F. Condon, 95, Decatur, IL, passed away at 11:29 A.M on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in her residence. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 1, 2008 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Prairie Avenue Christian Church. Messages of condolence may be directed to the family via email at www.dawson-wikoff.com Iona was born on April 5, 1912, in Christian County, IL, the daughter of Wilmer H. and Luetta Bailey McVey. She married John D. Condon on August 24, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2000. Iona was a member of the Prairie Avenue Christian Church. She taught fourth grade at Niantic, Salem and Muffley School for thirty-eight years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, past member of National Educational Association, Illinois Education Association and Decatur Educational Association and Order of the Eastern Star.Surviving is: her step-daughter, Ellen "Jackie" Fox of Rosedale, IN; two nephews and five nieces, one step-grandson and two step-great-grandson. Several great-nephews and great-nieces also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ross McVey, and two sisters, Ilah Hahn and Loreane Chapman.
