Biography
Bob McWhorter is a part of US Black heritage.
Bob, child of Amy, was born between 1825 and 1833. He lived in Oglethorpe Co, GA. Bob was enslaved and owned by Hugh McWhorter. Hugh died in 1825 and Bob was listed on his probate inventory in 1833. He was valued with his mother at $450.[1]
In 1833 the enslaved of Hugh McWhorter were divided up. Bob was appraised again with his mother, and with two other enslaved persons, George, and Lucy, at a value of $960. They were allotted to Robert McWhorter and his sister Maryann McWhorter.[2]
