Baptised at Armagh C of I
This is the Robert based at Tirnascobe, Armagh for many years. Has a brother John also based at Tirnascobe.
There is also a Freeholder list record for a William McWilliams at Ternascobe in 1753 (PRONI T/808/14936). This tends to suggest the McW family was holding property at Ternascobe 2 generations earlier than John and Robert. Currently have no match to this William (probably born before 1725).
Robert is listed in Early 19th Century Tithe Books in 1832 in Tirnascobe.
There is an Ireland Valuation Office Books record of a John and Robert McWilliam apparently holding a shared tenancy in Tirnascobe, Armagh in 1837. They appear to be renting one of 4 houses in Tirnascobe Townland. They are paying £7-9-0 per annum for a house and offices.
Also have an Ireland Valuation Office Book record for 'J & R McWilliam' for the year 1835, but with a valuation date of 23 Feb 1839 [?]. They were renting at 62 Scotch Street, Corporation, Armagh, for £31 pa, for house, office and yard, This is almost certainly John and Robert as in the 1837 Valuation record.
There are no McWilliams recorded at Ternascobe in the 1864 Griffiths Valuation.
Robert is named in the will of his brother William, written 06/02/1861, and is clearly alive at the time.
*1837: Tirnascobe - (John and Robert shared entry) Ireland Valuation Office Book Ref OL/4/110. NAI microfilm ref MFGS/54/6.
