Biography

Julia McCoy was born in 1884. She was the daughter of Alexander McCoy. She is living with her parents and siblings as recorded in the 1900 Federal Census, and working as a braid operator. She married Ignatius Edward Murphy (1889-1953) in 1908, Philadelphia. She is 24 years old on the 1910 Federal Census, living with her husband, mother, and siblings. Julia is employed as a dressmaker. In 1920, she is living with her husband, sister, and a lodger. She is 32 years old and not working at this time. It appears that she did not have children.

She passed away October 21, 1930 in Philadelphia, she was 47 years old. Her death certificate lists her cause of heath as heart conditions: hypertension, mytrocardilis, and thrombosis.

Julia Murphy's obituary was listed in the Philadelphia Inquirer on October 23, and read: "Relatives and friends are invited to funeral Sat. 8:30 AM from residence of brother-in-law Charles J. McDermott 2635 Aspen Street at Church of the Gesu 10:00 AM Int. New Cathedral Cemetery".

Julia McCoy Murphy was buried October 25, 1930, in the New Cathedral Cemetery, 2nd & Butler Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Julia was Roman Catholic.
