Biography

David was born in 1912. He was the son of John Mcfadden and Amanda Boyd. He passed away in 2003.

David Alexander "Dave" McFadden, 91, of 148 Rice St., died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Buchanan County, Va., a son of the late John Anderson and Arminda Boyd McFadden, Mr. McFadden retired after 47 years of service with Alice Manufacturing Co. and was instrumental in the building of the Arial Plant. Mr. McFadden was a member of Arial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha Stokes McFadden of the home; a son, Larry McFadden and his wife, Jo Lynn, of Easley; three sisters, Ruth Deal of Martinsville, W.Va., Ada Chapman of Greenville, and Pearl Garrett of Easley; two grandchildren, David McFadden of Easley, and Scott McFadden of Spartanburg; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline and Anna McFadden, both of Easley, and Alexandra and Emily McFadden, both of Spartanburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. McFadden was predeceased by a brother, John McFadden; and two sisters, Martha Deel and Eve McFadden.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Roger Gwinn officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arial United Methodist Church, c/o Donald Houston, 304 Rampey St., Easley, SC 29640 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

The family is at the residence.

Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown is assisting the family with arrangements.
