Burr Washington McKim was probably born aafter 1807 (see research notes below) in Loudoun County, Virginia, to James McKim and Martha Wright .
Burr is said to have been well educated and worked as a civil engineer and school teacher, as well as an expert weaver.
In 1829 Burr married Catherine Swatz Hines in Frederick, Maryland.
In 1830 Burr and his family were living in Loudoun Virginia and by the 1840 census they had moved to Guernsey County, Ohio, where he worked as a civil engineer. He surveyed much of the county, including most of the lands of Liberty township. He also laid out the village of Kimbolton. He was quite talented on the violin and played at many of the dances held by the early settlers. Although he owned a farm, farming was not his primary interest. He was an expert with tools and is said to have made the first grain cradles in Liberty township. He was active politically as a Democrat.
Burr and Catherine had ten children together, including a son who died as an infant. All of Burr and Catherine's sons served in the Civil War and none of them were injured.
Burr had two families. His youngest child with Catherine was named William and he was born in Ohio in 1846. Four years later in 1850, Burr left Catherine and married Eliza Bourne (Bourn/Boren) in Virginia. He was 50 and she was about 25 years old. They had 9 children together. Catherine called herself a widow.
Burr died in 1881 in Brilliant, Jefferson County, Ohio. His burial took place in New Alexandria, Jefferson County, Ohio.
Research Notes
From: https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/mckim/695/. Burr could not have been born in 1800 and his mother born in 1790. This link shows him as born about March 1810. Find-a-Grave manager Bob McKim was contacted about this and will be looking into altering the record.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Burr by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Burr:
I believe this record is linked to the wrong James McKim as the father of Burr Washington McKim. The James McKim who married Martha Patty Wright was born about 1784. Please see the following link: https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/mckim/695/
Has anyone done more research on this line of the McKim family? For now, I think we have the wrong line and should disconnect Burr Washington McKim from the James McKim now linked.
