Mrs. Mary Stephens, mother of T.A. and W. W. Lunsford, was born April 17, 1809, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., and died October 13, 1894, at the residence of her son, W. W. Lunsford, of Holmes County. In early life she joined the Presbyterian Church at Paw Creek, N.C. After her father moved to Georgia in 1830, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and continued a consistent and exemplary member until her death. She was a true and faithful wife, a fond and affectionate mother, sister and friend. In the graveyard of Hebron her remains were laid by the side of her first husband, William Lunsford.
