  • that Hugh McNamee was born 1740 or 1743 in Ireland, Scotland or Wales is yet to be proved. His name appears on some records as "Newa", Gallic for Hugh (add links these documents, or if they are already sourced in this profile, name them here).
  • There is some confusion over this Hugh and a convict-immigrant of the same name. [1][2]
  • 1760 - Hugh marries Alice Seeds. Or was that Alice Fling? Genealogists studying the matter, based largely on evidence in Wills, concluded she was Fling, not Seeds. A convincing review of the Seed-Fling case concluded she was Seeds. [3] [4]

  • Hugh appears on 1790 census for Washington County, Maryland in left column. Note that future son-in-law, Tilghman Baker, appears across from Hugh's name in the right column of this oath/census record.[7]
  • Hugh died in Antietam, Washington County, Maryland, USA

either Seeds-67 or Alice-184 are correct for Hugh. I suggest correct is Seeds, and deleting Alice-64, as Alice is a blank record created by gedcom. In addition to being correct mate for Hugh, Seeds has a bio and supporting sources.
