DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA test-takers in his direct paternal line.
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Based on results in the McQueen Y-DNA Study, we have proven John McQueen/McQuinn of Estill County, Kentucky has been misidentified as the son of William McQueen (son of Dugal) and his wife Henrietta.
John's descendants' Y-DNA signature is similar to the Y-DNA signature of the descendants of Samuel McQueen c1750-1794 of NC and (now) Johnson County, TN. It is possible John was a younger brother or cousin of Samuel.
John's descendants' Y-DNA results DO NOT match the results of the descendants of Thomas, son of Dugal, or the descendants of William and Henrietta's son, William Jr., of Carroll County, Ohio.
The parents of Samuel and John have not yet been identified using conventional genealogical methods.
