1776 Project
Matross Samuel Mead served with Lamb's Continental Artillery Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Origins

Samuel was born September 21, 1756 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA.[1] Samuel was a son of Joseph Mead and Katherine Lockwood. [1]

Family

Married Lois Summers born March 21, 1756, at New Milford Litchfield County, Connecticut.[2] Their wedding took place on the 12th or 13th of October 1780, in New Milford, Litchfield County.

Lois applied for widow's pension in 1838 from New York. Apparently friends and family were required to give affidavits signifying that they had attended the wedding, in order for Lois to receive her widow's pension.

Revolutionary War Service

Samuel served in the Continental Army from Connecticut.[3]

Death and Legacy

Samuel died July 30, 1830 at Chenango County New York, USA. He is buried at Gospel Hill Cemetery, Guilford, Chenango County, New York. [4] with his wife, Lois.
