Biography

Samuel MEADE was born between 1765 and 1775 in Bedford County, Virginia[1][2] and died between 1820 and 1830.[3] It is the common belief among researchers that he was born about 1770 in Bedford County, Virginia and died about 1828 in Floyd County, Kentucky.[citation needed] He is believed to have been the son of Robert MEADE and Hannah RHODES. He is buried in an unknown location.

Birth Estimates

The 1810 United States Federal Census Record states that in the household of Samuel Mead in Floyd County, Kentucky the oldest male was listed in the age bracket of 26 to 45 years old.[1] This means that his estimated year of birth would have occurred sometime between 1765 and 1777.
The 1820 United States Federal Census Record states that in the household of Samuel Mead the oldest male was listed in the age bracket of over the age of 45 years old.[2] This would have placed his estimated year of birth at before 1775.
In an unsourced database that was compiled from records collected for a genetic research project, Samuel MEADE’s year of birth was given as 1769 in Bedford County, Virginia.[4]

Death Estimates

The last census record that Samuel MEADE is enumerated in is the 1820 United States Federal Census Record of Floyd County, Kentucky. [2] This means his death probably occurred between 1820 and 1830. Several researchers point to his actual year of death being about 1828 in Floyd County, Kentucky.
In an unsourced database that was compiled from records collected for a genetic research project, Samuel MEADE’s year of death was given as 1828 in Floyd County, Kentucky.[4]

Military Service

There was a Samuel MEADE who served as a Private in the 2nd Regiment of the Virginia Militia in the War of 1812.[5] It is unknown at this time if this is the same individual as the individual in this profile.

Research Notes

Samuel MEAD is obviously not the child of John MEAD and Mary ABRELL as they both died before he was born. It is more likely that this individual is being confused with their grandson, the son of Robert MEAD and Hannah RHODES, or perhaps another relative.

Meade-1885 and Mead-2286 appear to represent the same person because: Per Wikitree policy, Each individual is to have one profile that is shared between family members. These are definitely duplicate profiles. Same Name, Same Wife, Same Birth, Same Death, Same child is attached to both profiles. Only thing that is different is the spelling of the surname. Please merge these two duplicates and any differences can be placed into the biography or research sections of these people with appropriate source citations for any conflicts.
