Aide-de-camp to General Lincoln
1767 built the Hermitage in Amelia County, Virginia
1776 commissioned Captain in the second Virginia regiment
1778 commissioned Major, served to the end of the Revolutionary war.
post war, appointed commander and Major General of the Virginia Militia.
1780 appointed aide-de-camp on the staff of General Benjamin Lincoln ok
received land grants from Virginia for his revolutionary services.
House of Delegates 1780–81 and 1782–83
State Senate 1794 -1798
General of Virginia Militia in 1794 and commanded during campaign against rebellion in western Pennsylvania ("Whiskey Rebellion")
buried at "The Hermitage" the Meade Family home and cemetery, Amelia County, Virginia [1]
