Biography

Ira was born in 1769. Ira passed away in 1847.

He was the son of John Meador and Jane Holloway.

Ira married Sarah Brown Winfrey 2 June 1791 in Bedford Co. The marriage bond was dated 23 May 1791, Surety by Lewis Turner, and they were married by John Ayers.

According to Victor Paul Meador, Ira moved his family to Smith Co. in 1806. He is confirmed there by the 1820 census.

Ira Meador passed away in 1847. Again, according to Victor Paul Meador, Ira settled on the Dry Branch of Goose Creek in Smith Co. That area is now in today's Macon Co. formed in 1842 from Smith. The area is just south of the town of Lafayette, TN.

Meador-157 and Meador-99 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and siblings. Same spouse. Same birth and death dates. Birth county needs reconciliation. Take a look and if you agree, please merge.
I think the merge should proceed. Since Ira's father bought land in Bedford Co. in 1762, I'd say it was a safe bet that Ira was born there, NOT Cumberland.

However, I think we should lose the middle name "Lewis". There does not seem to be any primary source for it.

I agree the birth place was probably Bedford. I also think the middle name should be removed since there is no proof for it. Unfortunately neither of us is on trusted lists so we'll have to wait for managers approval.
