"Mrs. Jane Russell Meads Willard, 73, of 144 Kline Blvd., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roger Hersperger Willard, who died in December 1981.

"Born May 19, 1914, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Wilbur and Margaret Boyer Meads.

"Mrs. Willard was a 1931 graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher College in 1935 and did graduate work in history at Johns Hopkins University.

"She was a member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ and had taught in the Sunday school for 18 years. She was a member and past president of the Frederick Art Club for 42 years and a member of the Casual Garden Club of Frederick.

"Mrs. Willard had retired in 1976 as a home teacher after over 20 years service with the Frederick County Board of Education.

"She was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnston.

"There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of funeral service Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday with the Rev. Frederick A. Wenner, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

"In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Goucher College Alumni Association, Towson, Md. 21204.

"The Smith, Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, is in charge of arrangements."
