Thomas J. Means was born on January 6, 1841 in Missouri to William Means and Nancy Harris (Gentry).[1],[2]
He married Susan Vaughn before 1871.[1] The couple had several children, including Alvertie Means (b. 20 Oct 1871), Clay Farris Means (b. 3 Jul 1863 and m. Lulu Hausman on 7 Jan 1892), Thomas Jefferson Means, Jr. (b. 27 Aug 1875), Charles C. Means (b. 29 Dec 1876), and Nancy Eliza Means (b. 28 Nov. 1879).[1]
