María was born about 1722, possibly to José Isidro Medina and Catarina Martín. She was married to Juan Bautista Vigil and they had 12 children:

  2. Juana born 1746
  3. Antonio de los Reyes born 1749
  4. María Josefa born 1751
  5. Bentura born 1753
  6. Margarita born 1755
  7. Maria Juliana born 1757
  8. Maria born 1757
  9. José Ignacio born 1759
  10. Domingo born 1761
  11. Pasquala de la Luz born 1763
  12. Juan José born 1767, baptized 1768

She died in 1771.[1]

Research Notes

  1. María Candelaria was born and married in a time when some church records, for various reasons, just aren't available.
    • I have searched through the Santa Cruz baptism records for both Medina and Martín but found nothing. The baptism records for Santa Cruz prior to 1731 were found on loose sheets, sometimes with no dates and with many pages missing.
    • Their marriage record should be in the Santa Cruz Marriage Book. I checked and found nothing under Vigil, Montes Vigil with all the many spelling alternatives, and Medina. I still need to check Martín, her possible mother's maiden name in case she chose to use her mother's name when she married. If the families didn't approve, they may have gone to one of the Pueblo Missons to marry so other locations still need to be checked.

Candelaria Medina-1 and Medina-714 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate profiles. The correct surname is just Medina. Her full given name was María de la Candelaria according to some of her children's baptism records.
