Margaret was the daughter of Andreas Meffert (aka Andrew Mefford) and Magdalene Haas. She was born in Oberdorfelden, Hessen, Prussia (now Germany). In the year 1749, at the age of 18, she migrated with her parents and two brothers, Johannes and Casper, to America.
On January 28, 1750, she married Wilheim "William" Dauber in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of four children Andrew, Anna Maria, Magdalene, and Maria Margaret.
