John was born about 1850, possibly in Poland or Prussia.
John (or Johann) Mehalski migrated to South Australia. I have been unable to find details of his arrival.
He was a farmer in the mid north of South Australia by 1887.[1] He held the lease for section 220 in the Hundred of Coglin, a 301 acre block.
Newspaper reports from the time of his death state that he was single and had no relatives in South Australia.
He passed away in 1894 and was buried in Dawson Cemetery.[2][3][4][5]
Newspaper articles at the time of his death gave his age as 40 years, the burial record lists his age as 45 years.
His property was sold by auction in February 1895.[6][7]
