Leslie William Meharg was born about 1937 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia as the twelfth child of Thomas Meharg and Rebecca Jane Colley. He had eleven siblings, namely: Stanley, Mary Jane, Edward John, Cecil Thomas, Harriet Evelyn, Reginald Matthew, Roy "Thunder", Mervyn, Edgar, Phillip Leonard, and Mildred Ruby. He died on 26 Feb 1966 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 15, he married Jessie Hardin, daughter of Edgar Francis Augustus Hardin and Gladys Winiifred Graham, on 04 Oct 1952 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia.

Two Goulburn men were killed instantly when they were run over by a heavily laden semi-trailer truck on Saturday night.
They were Leslie William Meharg, 36, and Allen Francis Morphett, 40, both of Towrang, Goulburn. Goulburn police said yesterday the utility the men were driving collided head which was travelling to wards Canberra.
Both men were thrown onto the road and were run over by the semi-trailer. The accident occurred four miles from Goulburn on the Hume Highway. The semi-trailer was driven by Barry Gordon, of Murwillumbah, 19 miles from the Queensland border.
