Mary was born March 17, 1876 in Germany (other sources say Busiasch, Banat, Hungary).[1]
Mary was 22 when she arrived in NY. Listed as Maria Apfel. To Detroit via Fiume and New York, accompanied by daughters, Margaret, age 3, and Anna, age 10 mos. Ship, Ultonia. Going to join husband Ignatz Apfel.[2]
Mary Apfel died at Providence Hospital in Detroit on March 8, 1916, after a miscarriage was followed by puerperal septicemia and general peritonitis. The death certificate says that Mary was born March 17, 1876 in Germany, daughter of Paul Meyers, who had also been born in Germany. Her mother's name was unknown. The informant for the certificate was Ignatz Apfel of Detroit. March 11, 1916. [1]
Mary was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Section 44, Tier 3, Space 158,[3]
Elizabeth Apfel of 1120 Belvidere Street, Detroit Michigan, born August 17, 1914, died on May 9, 1918 of scarlatina with laryngitis. Her father was Ignatz Apfel of Hungary and her mother was Mary Meyer (deceased), also of Hungary. Ignatz provided the information for the death certificate. [4]
