Thankful Meiggs was born on 25 September 1701 in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Ebenezer and Mercy (Weeks) Meiggs.[1]
She was named in her grandfather's will:
John Meigs' will dated 30 May 1712, made bequests to wife Lydia, eldest son John Meigs, three daughters Hannah Foster, Sary/Sarah Meigs, and Mindwell Cruttenden, son Janna, to his three grandchildren Ebenezer, Ruben and Joseph Meigs, two granddaughters Thankful & Mercy Meigs, daughter-in-law Mercy Meigs for her use and improvement the lands given to Ebenezer, Ruben, Joseph and Thankful Meigs during her remaining a widow or until they shall become of lawful age. He gave to his deceased daughter Sarah Bartlett's son Daniel, his granchild, his mother's portion. Executors John and Janna Meigs, cousin Andrew Ward of Guilford to keep his will after his death to present to court. Witnesses Abraham Fowler & Andrew Ward. Will presented at New Haven 21 Dec 1718 [sic]. Inventory of the estate taken 01 Dec 1713.[2]
