The Meiler family emigrated from Germany and arrived at Port of New York on 24 December 1855 aboard the ship New York, the family was among the early settlers of Johnsburg (est Aug 1841), McHenry Count, Illinois
Johann was the son of Anton Meiler and 2. Elizabeth Preuss.
