With the death of Mrs. Mary Waag, 88, mother of three Windsorites, another of the Russian-German Poudre Valley pioneers is gone. Funeral services were held Saturday in Fort Collins. She had died Wednesday. Mrs. Waag was born April 23, 1887, in Grimm, Russia, and married Carl Waag on Jan. 17, 1907, there. They came to Fort Collins in 1912. Her husband died in 1949. Survivors here are Frieda Strohman and Mrs. Dave (Leah) Claus, her daughters; and Harry Waag, her son. Other sons and daughters are Fred, Alexander and Victor Waag, Elizabeth Kalt-enberger and Lorraine Vermilya of Larimer County, and Carl Waag of Riverside, Calif. There are 31 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.[6]
Mrs. Mary Waag, 88, of Fort Collins and formerly of Grimm, Russia, died Wednesday at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital following a serious illness.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Russell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. R.O. Nelson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
She was born in Grimm, Russia, on April 23, 1887, and was married to Carl Waag on Jan. 17, 1907, in Grimm. He died in December 1949.
She moved from Grimm, to Fort Collins in 1912 and attended the Fort Collins Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Waag is survived by five sons, Fred, and Alexander of Larimer County, Victor of Fort Collins, Harry of Windsor, and Carl of Riverside, Calif. ; four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kaltenberger and Mrs. Lorraine Vermilya both of Fort Collins and Mrs. Frieda Strohman and Mrs. Leah Claus both of Windsor; 31 grandchildren, 49 greatgrandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.[7]
