Elisabeth Melanson was born about 1697 in Acadie.[1] Although her parents were married in Port Royal, they were not found there in any subsequent censuses. The first time they were reported is 1701 (when Les Mines was included in the enumeration). It is possible, even likely, that they lived in the Mines area before 1700 as well. The family was in Grand Pré (Les Mines), living next door to her grandparents[2].
