Camillo T. "Cam" Melchiorre Jr., 91, of Washington Street, Berwick, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Feb. 7, 2011, at his home..

Born March 15, 1919, in Berwick, he was the eighth of 14 children of the late Camillo T. and Generosa DiPippa Melchiorre..

Cam served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific..

He worked throughout his life as an electrician and owned LaSalle Electrical Contractors. After his retirement, he became an avid food crafter, specializing in hot peppers and wine blending. He proudly claimed a ribbon for his fiery creations at the Bloomsburg Fair and has delighted "foodies" around Berwick for many years..

Cam was an active member of St. Joseph Church, Berwick, for many years, and later in life accompanied his wife to worship at Immaculate Conception BVM Parish, (St. Mary's Church), Berwick. He also was a member of the Maria Assunta Society and the Catholic War Veterans..

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Thomas, Anthony, Angelo, Lawrence and John Melchiorre; seven sisters: Louisa Cerullo; Josephine Silvers; Amelia "Amy" Williams; Ida Moran; Christina Reilly; Filomena Prosseda; and Betty Adami..

He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemarie Petrillo, and they had observed 60 years of marriage. He also is survived by a son, Camillo T. Melchiorre III, and his wife, Kristin, of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren: Isabella, Camillo IV, Generosa and Carlo; and two generations of loving nieces and nephews..

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception B.V.M. Parish (St. Mary's Church), 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with the Very Rev. Francis J. Tamburro as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, Briar Creek Township, with military honors. Visitation for friends will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home, 1024 Market St., Berwick, with a prayer service at 7..
