Phillip was born in 1897. He is the son of William Mello and Cellestine Boulet.
Phillip's father William Mello was interviewed for the 1900 federal census on 1/5/1883. His Mom and Dad (William and Celestine Boulet) just celebrated 19 years of marriage. He and his 6 siblings were living together in Vermillion, Prairie Gregg, Louisiana. His parents were 42 and 40 years old respectively. Phillip was 2 and the next to the youngest. His oldest brother Andrew Mello Sr. was 16 and working with his farmer father as a farm laborer. His sister Eugene Mello was the only girl and was 18 years old, brother Adams Mello was 9, brother Luke Mello was 7, brother Ovey Mello was 4, and the baby, Clement Mello was 1 year old. Phillip's grandmother Poline B. who was 58 years old and had lost her spouse and his great grandfather Claud E. Bardie who was 100 years old and also a widow lived there as well. [1]
