Obituary
DEFOREST - Edwin R. Mellor, age 77, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Willows Nursing Home in Sun Prairie with his loving family at his side after a brief battle with cancer. Edwin Roland Mellor was born on June 7, 1925, to Isaac and Myrtle (Tucker) Mellor.
He was united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1946, to Joyce Anderson in Bellwood, Ill. Edwin served his country during World War II as an infantry soldier in the Army. He served in Normandy, France, Germany, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Edwin was awarded the Purple Heart. He did landscaping in DeForest for 25 years.
Edwin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and faithfully served him for 29 years. He served the Lord at the campground he and his wife owned for 13 years. Edwin and his wife served in the ARVICS as a volunteer Christian ministry.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Mellor; children, Kathy (Larry) Anderson of DeForest, and Mike (Sandy) Mellor of Oregon; six grandchildren, Tracy (Scott) Dibble, Lindsy, Ryan, Julie (Robert), Barbie (Tyson), and Darren; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Felicia; four step-grandchildren, Wendy, Laurie (Allen) Cash, and Doug and Melinda; a brother, Lloyd Mellor of Mauston; sisters, Effie Porter of New Lisbon, and Doretta Helwig of Columbus; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie, Bert, William, Henry, and Floyd; and sisters, Mary, Blanche, Melissa, Laura, and Esther.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. at DEFOREST EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 501 Mohican Pass, DeForest, with the Rev. Kenneth Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery. [1]
