Absolam was mentioned on a memorial in Melton Family Cemetery, Lawrence County, Illinois, United States with a death date of 20 June 1837.[3] The information listed in the source follows. Where born: Caswell Co NC Where died: Lawrence Co IL Son of: Benjamin F Melton & Nancy King Married: 2 Aug 1808 Warren Co KY Rebecca Morgan (m2: 19 Oct 1839 Lawrence Co John Higgins) Children: William L (18 May 1820 Edwards Co IL-28 Nov 1864 Gallatin Co IL; buried Ridgeway IL; m1: Patsy Ann Hampton; m2: Mary Ann Crawford). Absolam assumed to be buried here with other family members. He was the original landowner.

Melton and Nancy King. He married Rebecca Morgan, daughter of Henry Morgan, on the 2nd day of August 1808 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Henry Morgan was a Revolutionary War Soldier. His name appears on a plaque dedicated to the Revolutionary War Soldiers of Lawrence County, Illinois. The monument sits in the city park in Carmi, Illinois. After Absolam's death, Rebecca remarries to John Higgins on the 19th of October 1839 in Lawrence Co., Illinois. It is assumed that Absolam is buried here at the Melton Family Cemetery, located outside of Bridgeport, Illinois, along with other members of the family. He owned the land where the Melton Family Cemetery is located (see Benjamin F. Melton at this cemetery).
